Healing Takes Time

I have been a chiropractic assistant here at Active Family Chiropractic & Wellness Centre for over 12 years now. I’ve seen health transformations in the lives of families and individuals alike. I’ve met a diverse range of people, but what they all have in common is pain. Pain that is, more often than not, connected to the health of their spine. Some people will come in with so much pain it affects their mood, their attitude, and the way they connect with others, including myself. After dedicating a few months to their regular chiropractic adjustments, I see these people transform. People who were once grumpy, due to their pain, become jovial. People who were once curt, become friendly. People who were once skeptical of chiropractic care, become believers in the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

One singular thread that I’ve seen is that with every patient, healing takes time. Many patients start off their chiropractic journey hoping their pain will go away instantly with one chiropractic adjustment. While that may be the case for a few people, many times we see the most healing after someone dedicates a few months, and even years, to chiropractic care.

There is a chiropractic principle that says, “There is no process that doesn’t require time.” Over the past 12 years, I’ve seen this to be true. Think about going to the orthodontist and getting braces. This process takes years to straighten teeth. Think of a pregnant woman, creating life within her. Another process that takes months of growth and change. There are so many examples we can look at in our own lives that we know take time. The healing of our spine and body is one of these things.

At Active Family Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, here in Mississauga, we are dedicated to the healing and care of every person that comes into our office. Over the years, I’ve seen patients that are dedicated to the process and patients that are looking for a quick fix. My encouragement to any person looking into chiropractic care is that if you’re looking to reap the long-term benefits of a healthy spine, you will need to sow in time.
