Chiropractic and Children

Many parents in Mississauga know the importance of regular checkups for their children’s eyes, teeth, and their checkups with the children’s pediatrician.   However, many parents are unaware that a chiropractic checkup may be one of the most important examination for their children.

The importance of a chiropractic spinal exam is because the spinal column and the nervous system  is known as one of the most important systems of the entire body.  Without a healthy nervous system, the body’s master control would not be able to relay all the necessary information to keep the body working properly.  Everything from a child’s movement, breathing, heart rate, blood circulation, and growth are all determined by a healthy nerve system.  When there’s a disruption of any of the nerves in a child’s body, a state of sub-optimal health will occur.  This disruption of the nerve system in the spine is usually caused by subtle spinal misalignments also known as subluxations.

So, how does the first subluxation occur?  A subluxation can occur from a difficult delivery, or traumas sustained when the child is growing up.  Children’s sports activities or recreational activities can also lead to bump and bruises that are often unchecked.  While most traumas and accidents are minor, there are times when subluxations can cause more serious injuries to the growing spinal column.  It is for these reasons that all children should have periodic chiropractic checkups.

If you were to ask most chiropractors whether they check their own children, it would of no surprise that chiropractor’s own children regularly have their spine checked.  It only makes perfect sense!  More and more families in Mississauga are finding benefits to having their children checked.  Include chiropractic checkup as part of an optimal health care plan.
