Compared to any other disease in the world, heart disease kills more people per year. Heart attacks make up the majority of these deaths related to heart disease. What’s interesting is that the incidence of heart attacks is highest at a certain part of the year. That time of the year is the HOLIDAY SEASON/CHRISTMAS SEASON and affects both men and women. A study from the Journal of Circulation stated that “the number of cardiac deaths is higher on December 25 than on any other day of the year, second highest being December 26, and third highest on January 1st.”
Most people would consider December to be the most stressful month of the year, with the added hustle and bustle of the holiday season to the already existing everyday stresses. The added increased risk of heart attacks originates from the added mental and physical pressure that comes from financial strain, busier and more packed schedules, and increased consumption of sugar, salt and alcohol, especially in much higher portions. The Journal of Circulation also stated that “People tend to gain weight during the holiday season and take in more salt, putting additional stress on an already weakened heart.” Due to busier schedules, there’s a lack of free time to exercise and regulate a proper sleeping schedule/habits. All this added stress taxes the heart and cardiovascular system, which leads to an increasing risk of heart related events.
THE MOST IMPORTANT HEALTH HABIT ASSOCIATED WITH INCLUSIVELY REDUCING MULTIPLE CAUSES OF HEART DISEASE COMES FROM HAVING REGULAR CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS.
Proper alignment of the nervous system reduces high blood pressure and all of the associated negative risks that come with it. Research (2007) showed that a Chiropractic adjustment delivered into the upper neck lowered blood pressure greater than the use of two blood pressure-lowering medications given in combination. The most surprising finding in the study was that all of the benefits of an adjustment, such as reduction in blood pressure, occurred WITHOUT THE PREVIOUS PRESENCE OF NECK OR BACK PAIN! These corrections in the study were to adjust spinal misalignments in patients WITHOUT ADVERSE SPINAL SYMPTOMS.
You don’t need to be experiencing neck pain or back pain in order to experience optimal health that comes from regular Chiropractic adjustments. Every adjustment removes stress from the nervous system, in turn allowing your heart, immune system, digestive systems and every other function in your body to work more efficiently.
With all this in mind, it’s important to get your spine checked, especially during the holiday season, to see how the alignment of your spine is affecting your overall health.
