Chiropractic: A Missing Link for Weight Loss

Chiropractic: A Missing Link for Weight Loss

We are now a couple weeks into the New Year and hopefully you’ve been able to stay true to the goals you’ve set for 2018. Sitting on top of most people’s resolution lists is the desire to LOSE WEIGHT, especially after all the festivities during the Christmas season. People resort to increasing their exercise intensity every week, changing their eating habits and choices, and drinking more and more water. All of these are sound strategies to reaching a healthier weight, but there is one lifestyle change that is often overlooked that can help make all your hard work more effective.

Studies Confirm Effectiveness of Chiropractic Weight Loss Plans

In 2012, the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism published a study* that proved how important the nervous system is in the regulation of weight and metabolism. The study included 42 obese individuals who went through an intervention of dietary and lifestyle changes over a 12 week weight loss program. Apart from weight loss, the subjects were also measured for sympathetic nervous system activity within their muscles at rest and after given an oral-glucose tolerance test. After measuring the difference in weight, the results of the study showed that those subjects who’s sympathetic nervous response was higher were able to lose more weight than those who’s sympathetic response was suppressed.

THIS IS SUCH USEFUL INFORMATION! The ability to adapt is dictated by the nervous system, which means the body’s response to changes in diet and lifestyle habits (such as exercise) are dependent on how effective the nervous system is able regulate these changes. The sympathetic nervous system subconsciously regulates many body functions that control the metabolic rate and dissipation of calories after food intake. In other words, your sympathetic nervous system regulates how you metabolize and digest your food. So if your sympathetic nervous system is suppressed by any means, it will not be able to regulate such things and affect your ability to metabolize food and affects your ability to lose weight, even with the right lifestyle changes.

Correcting Misalignments Has More to do With Weight Loss Than You May Think

If only there was an intervention that can promote high sympathetic activity in your body! Research has shown us that CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS are a very effective way to improve sympathetic activity in your system. Misalignments serve as the culprit that robs your body from the necessary potential to positively adapt and communicate. Correcting those misalignments and promoting ongoing nervous system stimulation through adjustments can improve metabolism that may be suppressed, and in turn help you reach your goals of a healthier lifestyle and any necessary weight. Chiropractic adjustments can serve as the missing link to reaching your health and wellness goals. But most importantly, you don’t even need to be in pain in order to experience such positive benefits in your health and function. It’s a matter of checking to see what areas of your spine need the most work in order to allow communication and potential to be at its highest, so you can be at your best.
